The four-year-old gelding Woodmere Tesla is the latest addition to the roster at the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society. Bred by Woodmere Farms of PEI, the son of the late Steelhead Hanover comes from a long line of iron tough distaffers.
His dam, Wild Ride Hanover, made more than 120 starts in her career which spanned over six years and saw her compete at 16 different racetracks across Ontario and the US. The daughter of Western Ideal has passed on that toughness to her offspring as two of her daughters, Delightfully Wild and Woodmere Wyldstyle, have a combined 313 career starts and are both still racing in 2022. The latter mare drawn into start on Saturday at Flamboro Downs for trainer Jason Woodward.
Tesla’s career wasn’t quite as long as his sisters’ with just 16 trips behind the starting gate in total. He last raced in January at Mohawk. He’s just entered foster care and will have some time to decompress before his training begins.
