July 19, 2019 - This Sunday the fourth annual Vic Hayter Memorial will be contested at Clinton Raceway and the entire day will honour the late horse owner and animal advocate who was a staunch supporter of the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society.
Hayter’s family has stepped to the plate to increase the purse of the race to $15,000. The Hayter Memorial is scheduled to go as race 10 on the matinee card with a post time of approximately 4:12 p.m. The field, from the rail out, is: Ionia, All Out Henry, Sizzlen Hot Herbie, Dominum Deo, Lets Leavem, Sicario, AJ Cash and Power And Grace.
Mr. Hayter, who passed away at 77 in early 2016, was a well known hotel operator in the region and horse owner for close to four decades. He and his wife were fixtures at Clinton Raceway for many years.
In addition to raising the purse of the race honouring their patriarch, the Hayter family has also increased the purses of the other races on the card by 10 per cent and are also buying lunch for all of the caretakers at Clinton on Sunday.
There are a number of fundraisers planned for Sunday afternoon including a 50/50 draw, raffle and silent auction. Funds raise go towards OSAS and the Stratford-Perth Humane Society.
