OSAS is pleased to announce the addition of iron horse Ellis Park. Now 13, the son of Rocknroll Hanover faced the gate 160 times in his long career which spanned nine years, from age three through nine.
Ellis Park was bred and owned by Dr. David Goodrow and trained by Brad Maxwell and Tony O’Sullivan. Tony credits Dave for Ellis Park’s long tenure on the racetrack.
“Dave is the reason he (Ellis Park) has lasted so long. The horse was allowed to race when he was good and turned out when it was deemed best. There has never been an ounce of pressure from Dave to push on. There are very few owners like that,” he praised shortly before the horse’s retirement which they had planned for earlier but put off because of how well he was racing.
Dr. Goodrow is a fan of international rugby and named Ellis Park after a stadium in South Africa which hosts rugby.
In total Ellis Park took in over $850,000 during his racing days. He has a full brother, Fat Mans Alley, with over $770,000 in his bankroll.
