August 8, 2019 - OSAS extends warm congratulations to our director Ian Fleming on his induction into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame last night. Ian joins fellow OSAS director Bill O’Donnell in the hallowed Hall.
Ian has worked tirelessly for the harness racing sport in Ontario and beyond for many decades. He is a racetrack executive, race secretary for many of the province’s racetracks and serves on many committees and boards in racing. He’s been a mentor to countless people in the sport and his opinions are cultivated and respected.
For many years Ian has worked alongside two of OSAS’s other directors, Kelly Spencer and Heather MacKay, who consider themselves fortunate to gain from his insight and knowledge and to be able to call him a valued friend.
There are countless ideas and initiatives that Ian has spearheaded in the sport, but the one that has gained him the most notice is the incredible Industry Day at his home track of Clinton Raceway which brings together the titans of the sport and had raised a great deal of money for worthwhile causes since its inception almost two decades ago. Ian has been an integral cog in many industry fundraisers over the years, generously donating his time and effort for those in the sport requiring assistance.
