The Painted Pony, one of the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society’s equine ambassadors, was on full display in holiday gear to post parade on Sunday (December 12) at Western Fair Raceway.
Emma Christoforou rode the uniquely coloured Standardbred in the post parades for the special card which featured the second annual drivers’ challenge in support of Toys For Tots. Competing drivers included eventual winner James MacDonald as well as Tyler Borth, Colin Kelly, Anthony MacDonald, Scott Wray, Austin Sorrie, Scott Young and Natasha Day.
Emma and The Painted Pony were dressed for the season and Emma was beyond proud of her steed. “Pony took post parading in stride as if he’d done it his entire life! Representing the versatility of our breed from racing to doing everything I ask of him. He certainly knows how to impress everyone, tinsel bells, bows and even lights,” she noted.
The Painted Pony is a 16 year-old gelding by Lindy Lane who has very capably represented Standardbreds in countless shows across the province for many years.
