June 11, 2019 - Retired Standardbred horses impressed riders from many other disciplines yesterday at the Spring Hunter Pace hosted by the Wellington-Waterloo Hunt Club.
More than 110 riders, aboard a wide variety of breeds of horses, competed in the event which saw two Standardbred competitors finish first and second. Aniela Breen won the event with Pursuit Of Peace (a daughter of Modern Art) while Emma Christoforou, who was riding Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society's ambassador The Painted Pony (a son of Lindy Lane), finished second.
This event is the first of several OSAS is participating in this year in an attempt to introduce the versatility of the Standardbred horse to as many people as possible. The next one is on June 16, a Trail Ride at Snapping Turtle Stable in Cambridge, also hosted by the Wellington-Waterloo Hunt Club.
