August 27, 2019 - Captain Crunch, OSAS’s partner in the Breeders Crown Charity Challenge along with former major leaguer Dan Plesac, will make his next start on Saturday night at Mohawk.
The three-year-old son of Captaintreacherous has drawn post two in the $171,503 Simcoe Stakes carded as race nine on the stakes laden program which also includes the Maple Leaf Trot and Canadian Pacing Derby finals as well as OSS events for rookie pacing colts. CC will face off against, from the rail: Best In Show, Century Farroh, Better Up, Stag Party, Tyga Hanover and Bronx Seelster.
This will be Captain Crunch’s first Canadian appearance since winning the $1 million North America Cup in June. Owned by 3 Brothers Stables, Christina Takter, Rojan Stables and Caviart Farms, Captain Crunch has made seven starts to date this season with five wins under his harness for $777,027 earned in 2019.
His regular pilot, Scott Zeron, will be at the controls for trainer Nancy Johansson. Saturday’s outing will be Captain Crunch’s first start since winning the Cane Pace on Hambo Day, August 3, at the Meadowlands.
